flower care

We aim to brighten lives with our flowrs and are hoping you’re day just got a little bit brighter!

To keep your flowers looking bright too, here are some tips to properly care for your flowers:

With any bouquet or vase arrangement, be sure to keep fresh water levels in your vase. For best results, use filtered water and replace all water daily, keeping water levels all the way up to the top. If your arrangement is in a vase, it is encouraged to trim the bottom of your stems by a half-inch every other day using clean snips – this prevents stems from sealing and cutting off their water supply.

For centerpieces, there are a lot of flowers packed into a small space so they’ll drink up water levels surprisingly quick – add clean water twice a day. Trimming stems won’t be possible so our secret tip is to give flowers a very light misting once or twice within the first 24 hours of receiving them.

We also recommend keeping your flowers in a cool spot, away from sunlight, extreme heat, stovetops, or furnaces. Also do not place any ripening or off-gassing fruit (ie: avocados, bananas, oranges) near your flowers – this will speed up the life of your flowers.

Certain flowers will go before others. And some ingredients may surprise you with a pollen or seed stage. As some flowers begin to wilt or expire remove them by snipping out. This will prevent the spread bacteria to the rest of the arrangement, as well as encourage any buds from the same stem to open.

A flower is a part of plants cycle, but the flower is THE moment – the most beautiful moment. It’s fleeting, and that’s part of the beauty. It makes you appreciate the moments you have with them.

Although your flowers won’t last forever, don’t forget to enjoy that most memorable moment – when you were gifted some wilder beauty – and the message that it brought to you.

Orchids and Terrariums come with a care card with specific care instructions. For orchid maintenance, we offer orchid workshop classes as well as refreshes by appointment.

Cut flowers are perishable from the moment they are cut from the living plant and are subject to variable conditions such as weather, transport, placement, air quality, watering and water quality, and general care.
